It's a fact: the children of New Orleans are at risk of losing some of their most precious cultural artifacts and customs. As the city slowly recovers from a series of traumas (Katrina, BP, the economy), attention has been pulled away from the daily joys of living in New Orleans in order to focus on more immediate needs. The Heal2Toe program aims to preserve and protect the unique Second Line culture of New Orleans by teaching our kids to savor and respect what sometimes is taken for granted. Through dance, art and education, Darryl "Dancingman 504" Young helps kids understand the precious gifts of New Orleans, so they learn to make it a part of their everyday life. And, most importantly, they become proud ambassadors of this culture, and are able to share it outside our city limits.
Donating to the Heal2Toe program will help keep this vision alive. Your contributions will go toward a permanent location for classes, arts and crafts materials, and to fund semi-annual field trips.
Thank you in advance for helping the children of New Orleans as they preserve, protect and respect Second Line culture!
